flats and backcountry fishing in Sarasota Florida.
One of the most
unique and distinguished fishing destinations in the world lies just outside my back
door on the southwest coast of Florida. Fishing Sarasota, Charlotte Harbor and Tampa Bay's
flats and backcountry is a testament to the past, a view of Florida as it
might have looked one
hundred years earlier.
Fishing deep in the
backcountry you'll see miles of mangrove trees, large expanses of grass flats and maybe an
old fish house or two. You'll see oyster bars, sand bars and areas that look so fishy you
can't resist a cast into them. And rightfully so.
These are the homes and
hangouts of some of the best game fish Florida has to offer. Redfish, snook,
tarpon and trout
inhabit these waters and, under
the right conditions, they can be sight-fished...
